Take the A9 north and then just north of Aviemore take the A95 signposted Charlestown of Aberlour and Keith. There is some spectacular scenery driving north through Perthshire and up into the Highlands. Whatever time of year you come the colours and hills are glorious. There are places to stop off and eat, plus visitor attractions, but remember - the best is yet to come in the heart of the Whisky country!
